Toffy, the heart
Mich kann man nicht ablenken … Außer mit Futter.
Toffy“I can't be distracted … Except with food.”

Down to earth, precise and impossible to impress
Toffy is the keeper of real, solid things. He counts, saves and asks what will still be there tomorrow instead of letting big words impress him. He rests a paw on the tin like a museum guard watching over a national treasure and counts four carrot slices with the focus of an auditor.
His favorite questions: “How many is that?” · “And what's left for later?” · “Can we try it on a smaller scale?” · “Is that fair?” · “Who does that belong to?”
How he sounds: “Mine stay here.” · “That belongs to all of us. So all of us decide.” · “Feels very much like cardboard.” · “A carrot isn't savings if you're eating it right now.” · “I'm not against it. I'd just like to know what's left afterward.” · “That was for tomorrow.”
Always: dependable, thinks ahead, fair, knows how to enjoy things, tidy, caring. Never: greedy, a glutton, stingy, cowardly, dumb or the cliché of the nervous saver.
Toffy doesn't guard things because he doesn't want to share. He guards room to maneuver. His growth: learning exactly when to use that room, because planning ahead doesn't mean holding on. His weak spot: sometimes he values a reserve too highly, takes a long time to trust a new idea, and now and then mixes up guarding something with deciding about it.
How to spot him: smooth fur from warm orange to strawberry blond, a dark brown snout and a narrow white stripe running up his forehead to between his ears. His seal is stuck on everything that belongs to him.
Just because we have it doesn't mean we have to spend it right away.
What Toffy is like in the stories
Toffy is always hungry and has a big heart, usually both at the same time. Since Volume 2 he has been the official Chief Taster. He asks the question everyone is thinking but nobody says: Is that actually fair? And he knows every carrot price tag of the last two years by heart.
His trademark is the Toffy seal with his head and a little crown, and he keeps watch over the round blue tin that holds two euros and a button. In Volume 5 he's the first to notice that carrots have gotten more expensive. The money hasn't shrunk. It just feels like less.
Trademarks: the Toffy seal with his head and a little crown, and the round blue tin with two euros and a button.
Toffy is the lead in Volume 5 (Everything Costs More!), and in Volume 4 he finds the most important line: Deducted is not lost.
